Our story

We built Tapelog because we were tired of leaving meetings having to reconstruct what happened from memory. Action items lost in chat threads. Commitments forgotten. Decisions made twice because nobody could remember the first time.

Existing tools felt like they solved half the problem. Transcription apps gave you a wall of text. Note-taking apps required effort at the time you least wanted to put it in. Hardware devices like Plaud were clever but charged $159 for a clip-on mic when the phone in your pocket was better.

So we built Tapelog โ€” a software-first AI voice journal that works on the device you already carry. Record anything, get instant AI analysis, and never lose a commitment again.

What we believe

๐Ÿ”’
Privacy by design
Your recordings live in your own Supabase database. API keys are server-side secrets โ€” never on your device. Your conversations are yours.
๐Ÿค–
AI should be useful, not gimmicky
Every AI feature in Tapelog โ€” summaries, commitments, people profiles, pre-meeting briefs โ€” solves a real problem we had ourselves.
๐Ÿ’ฐ
Transparent pricing
No $159 hardware. No bait-and-switch. The free tier is genuinely useful and the Pro plan costs less than a coffee a week.
๐Ÿ”ง
Built on open infrastructure
Supabase, Expo, OpenAI, Anthropic โ€” all established, reliable platforms. No proprietary lock-in. No mysterious black boxes.

The team

We're a small team of builders who care deeply about the problem of organisational memory โ€” the gap between what people say and what actually gets done.

A
Alex Rivera
Founder & CEO
Previously built AI tooling at a Series B startup. Obsessed with productivity systems and the science of memory.
M
Maya Osei
CTO
Full-stack engineer with 8 years building mobile apps. Architected the Supabase Edge Function pipeline that powers our AI processing.
J
Jordan Kim
Head of Design
Former design lead at two YC startups. Believes great productivity software should be invisible โ€” it should just work.

Where we're headed

The short-term roadmap is focused on making Tapelog the best AI voice journal on the market โ€” improving accuracy, adding Google Meet and Zoom integration, and building team collaboration features.

The long-term vision is bigger: we want Tapelog to be the place where your organisation's spoken knowledge lives. Every decision, every commitment, every idea โ€” searchable, connected, and never lost.

If that sounds interesting, we're hiring. If you have feedback or just want to chat, reach out.
